Below are answers to some pertinent questions.
How can I be saved?
Jesus has already died for our sins to give us salvation. We are not working to get saved, we just receive the salvation that Jesus already died for on the cross of Calvary. To be saved is as simple as ABC. “… Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31). Believing in Jesus means believing that He is able to save you. It means believing in the simple plan He has laid down. 1. Repent – You must repent of your sins. Have a change of mind about your sins. 2. Confess – You need to ask God to forgive you. Mention the sins to Him and seek for His pardon. 3. Forsake – You must stop doing those things that God hates. 4. Faith – Believing that it is so according to God’s word.
How can I grow in my Christian life?
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (I Peter 2:2). Just as food is one of the most important things in the growth of a baby, so is spiritual food very important in the growth of a Christian. Regular intake of quality spiritual food will guarantee steady growth for any believer. We must give time to reading the Bible ourselves. We must also listen to the Word and this is possible in church, through tapes, CDs and DVDs, TV, Internet etc. Prayer is also another means by which we can take in grace that makes us grow. Regular visit to the throne of grace will help us in our Christian life. Somebody said, ‘seven days without prayers make one weak.’ How true! Cultivate the habit of regular praying and you will see how fast you grow in your spiritual life. Fellowshipping with other believers is also known to strengthen one’s faith and broaden one’s knowledge in kingdom matters.
How do I know that I am saved?
Once you confess your sins to God, believe that He has forgiven you. Faith is the most important element in knowing that you are now saved. His word says that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9) – believe it. His word says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12) – believe it. It is in believing that you know that you are now saved! This believing gives you the grace and enablement to forsake your sins. This does not mean that you are now fully who He wants you to be, but you are no longer who you used to be! Although you may fall into sin once in a while, you are no longer living in sin. And IF you fall into sin at all, you will generally not be happy about it and you will quickly seek for pardon from God.
