STEPS TO SALVATION/ HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN
Salvation is total redemption from sin and sinful nature. Sin is disobedience to God; it is the transgression of God’s law (1John 3:4). Sin separates man from God (Isaiah 59:1-2) and leads to eternal punishment and death (Romans 6:23). God paid the price for the sin of mankind by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son (John 3: 16), thereby making eternal life available to all.
To be saved, a sinner needs to:
* Realize his sinful state:· “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23. Change begins at the point··· of discovery that your lifestyle is not pleasing unto God and you cannot help yourself without God. Romans 3:10. Psalm 14:2-3.
* Accept that Christ died for your sin. John 3:16.“But God commendeth His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinner, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Isaiah 53:··· 4-6. Complete solution to the sin of mankind is in Christ. You cannot be saved by your own righteousness such as going to church, paying tithes, travelling to Jerusalem, giving to the poor, fasting etc. “Neither is· there· salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”· Acts 4:12.
* Repent & Forsake your sin. “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.” Acts 17:30. Repentance is a complete change of mind to turn away from sin to God. Acts 3:19, Proverb 28:13.
* Believe that you are saved & walk in newness of life: As you repent, pray and forsake your sins, believe that God has forgiven you. “For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13. Acts 2:21, Romans 10:9, John 1:12. “Therefore if any be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” 2 Cor. 5:17.
